Sober utilities
Field instruments
A small set of utility surfaces hosted alongside the publication. Every instrument runs in the visitor's browser; the operator does not log inputs, outputs, or visits. The surfaces are a contribution to the audience the publication serves, not a conversion funnel for the hosting service.
The instruments below are sober. They do not promise certainty where the underlying problem is open. The threat-model worksheet emits an editorial brief, not a verdict. The jurisdictional comparison sets out the observable facts and lets the reader weigh them. The Tor v3 onion validator checks the structural shape of an address and is honest about what its checks do not cover.
Each instrument page carries an end-of-page notes block setting out the privacy posture and the substantive limitations of the check. The publication recommends reading the notes before relying on a result for an operational decision.

Infrastructure
- Tor v3 onion validator
- Structural validator for Tor v3 hidden-service addresses. Checks length, base32 charset, and version byte; the cryptographic checksum verification is deferred to a later revision.
Cryptography
- Warrant canary verifier (deferred)
- Paste a PGP-signed warrant canary and verify the signature and freshness window. Deferred until the publication adopts an OpenPGP client-side dependency.
